Heliopolis Clubhouse:
Where
is the clubhouse?
The Heliopolis Clubhouse is located in the ‘New Cairo' or Misr Gedida district of Cairo, not far from the city's international airport; it is situated just off the main thoroughfare of Salah Salem/ Orouba Street (Airport Road) and is close to Nasr City.
Tucked away in a quiet side-road, the BCA Heliopolis clubhouse can be found at No 11, Mohamed Youssef El Kadi Street near the Girls College, or ‘Koliet El Binnat'. Easy to find, our little corner of a foreign field is off Mirghani Street and is clearly shown on the map which you will find at the bottom of this section. (Click on the link to view the map or download in .pdf format). Our phone number is (02) 4185133 and in the unlikely event anyone has trouble finding us, simply call and the staff on duty will be only too pleased to give you clear directions in either English or Arabic. (As well as other languages dependant on who is in the clubhouse at the time)
The clubhouse is very secure and at least one member of staff is always posted at the gate during opening hours to let both members and visitors alike into the premises and garden. We like to think that with our broad range of facilities we cater for all age groups and tastes.

First Impressions
The clubhouse comprises a detached three-story villa, with different amenities on each floor and is situated in a pleasant garden setting. Our opening times are from 5.00pm to 11.00pm on weekdays, ie: from Sunday to Wednesday, and then we ‘push the boat out' with a late night on Thursday, when we are open until 12.30am and if that isn't enough for the revelers we are then also open on Friday from 10.00am until 12.30am and 2.00pm until 11.00pm on Saturdays – Especially so that the sports fans amongst you can take advantage of our live sports satellite TV transmissions.

The
Watering Hole
To give you a fair idea of everything we offer, it's probably best to begin at the end of a long, hot and dusty Cairo day when a small libation is felt essential for our well-being! As you enter the clubhouse on the ground floor, you will find a small reception area, which opens out onto a very comfortable and newly decorated saloon that boasts a relaxing and recently refurbished seating area, as well as one of the widest selections of refreshments in Cairo . Music, satellite TV and card-playing facilities are also on offer in this area, which assists in our goal of providing satisfaction for all.

The
Restaurant
The kitchen which is also located on the ground floor provides a wide range of snacks and meals that can be enjoyed either in the quiet comfort of the already mentioned saloon area, or in the more formal but none-the-less homely restaurant. The restaurant itself can seat up to 20 or more - either as individuals, couples, families or for larger groups, with full waiter service available at all times. Theme nights are also promoted to give further variety to our cuisine, and a British Sunday Lunch is available on Sunday evenings lest we forget the delights of a Traditional Roast, with Yorkshire Pud' Veg and Gravy. The restaurant facilities are available from 6.00pm till 9.30pm every evening except Fridays and Saturdays when we open from 10.30am-4.00pm for a full English breakfast in addition to our standard menu.

The Terrace Garden & Barbeque
Well, now we have been in and around the first floor so its time to get some air in the garden and make use of our facilities outdoors when the weather isn't too hot!
This is a great area for the kids to run around and play on our activity frame while Mum and Dad look on from the seating area nearby. Or, we can all go local and have some Shisha in our specially designed ‘Hookah Corner' - comfortable seating, pipes, the works!! The ingredients are always on hand for this!!
Re-entering the clubhouse we'll now move upstairs to the first level where a completely separate range of amenities are available.

Reader’s
Club - Book Library
On this floor we have a well-stocked and very comfortable library where books can be selected at leisure and read or taken away for reading at home. As in all libraries peace and quiet is promoted and for that reason children are barred from here.

Kid’s
Club - Games Room
On this floor we have a children's activity area so families can still stay close. Here the younger ones will find a computer for games and the Internet as well as toys and books to keep them amused while Mum and Dad have some “quality time!” For those with older children we also have a pool table available on this floor for the youngster's to put in the practice before taking on Dad.
Feeling fully rested and want some action?

The
Sports Zone
Onwards and upwards to what we call our ‘Sports Zone'. Located on the roof level, this is a large, enclosed room, colonial in style with a wide range of facilities available. Obviously we have a well stocked “libation area” which is open as required, a second pool table, a dart board, a wide screen TV for the football, cricket and rugby seasons (or music for us Peter Pans!!) and a large seating area for general relaxation. Meals are also served in this area.

Social
activities
As mentioned above we try to cater for all ages and tastes, as well as ensuring we have regular interaction with our friends in the Mohandiseen clubhouse plus other clubs and pubs in and around Cairo . So with this in mind, we host a full sports programme and our teams are fully involved in the well run, pool, darts and cricket leagues.
The Heliopolis Hellraisers Hash, meet at the clubhouse every full moon to hash in the desert and return to the Clubhouse for refreshments. Dates are always displayed on the Clubhouse notice boards and in the BCA Chronicle's Cairo Social Calendar.

Weekly
Diary
We try to maximize the pleasures for both members and guests by varying our food menu and by organizing a number of regular activities.
So here's how you could spend a typical week in Cairo with us:
Please note: Both BCA clubhouses now run a Happy Hour seven days a week!
BCA Heliopolis times are: 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Saturday;
Happy hour, half price refreshments, from 5.00 to 6.30pm to relax after the first day of the week (for us poor unfortunates who are on a six day schedule). All the other facilities mentioned above are obviously also available.
Sunday;
As Saturday (Plus the Sunday lunch in the evening!! Please check to confirm availability).
Monday;
Now we have to get a bit more active with our monthly Heliopolis Hellraiser's Full Moon Hash jog/walk to get the blood circulating!!
Tuesday;
More of a cranial day! This is when we have our regular monthly quiz nights.
Wednesday;
Calm before the storm! All the clubhouse amenities are available.
Thursday;
Last day of the week with Fish and Chips being the kitchen speciality tonight! An excellent mea.l but if you wish many other tempting dishes from the normal menu are available. We also hold regular music or other events such as carpet horse racing on Thursdays and these generally go through to 12.30am - Well for those that feel they can stand the pace that is.
Friday;
A very special day that can start off at 10.00am with a full English Breakfast to help recover from the Thursday excesses.
A relaxing afternoon may be spent either in the garden or else any of the locations described above. A perfect way to relax from the day-to-day stresses and recoup for the coming week.
Come
on down, we look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to our little
oasis in
Heliopolis - The City of the Sun!
